Despite showing great pace, Tamas Pal Kiss and Luciano Bacheta finished 7th and 8th respectively in Sunday’s AutoGP race at Silverstone, due to a lack of grip after their pitstops
When the lights went out, Bacheta leapfrogged from 10th to 5th and was in third before his mandatory pitstop. However, instead of battling for the podium, the low grip level of his second set of tires cost the Brit dearly. Hence, the local hero only placed eighth in the end.
“Luicano was very strong today. He was one of the fastest guys out on the track and battling for the podium. Unfortunately, after his stop, he could not get enough temperature into his tires, which meant a massive drop in grip”, team boss Michael Zele analysed.
Fellow-teammate Kiss, third on the previous day, had too much wheel-spin at the start loosing five spots. Charging hard, like Bacheta, the Hungarian managed to regain ground, but it was too little too late.
“Tamas had a bad start and although he was very quick, dirty air behind his opponents made overtaking merely impossible”, Zele added.
In the overall standings, Bacheta is on 49 points, while Kiss has 37. In the team standings, Zele Racing has posted 101 points in total.
