Swiss driver Christof von Grünigen won both AutoGP races at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza last weekend
For the first time in history, the AutoGP series races were combined with the BOSS GP event and run at the notorious race track near Milan.
Christof von Grünigen, who gave his comeback for Zele Racing since running in AutoGP with the team in 2014, cruised to two victories in the AutoGP category.
„It was a great weekend for us. The chemistry in the team was perfect and it’s amazing to get my maiden AutoGP triumph at such a renowned track. To make it even more exciting, I could double my tally the next day,“ the Swiss said.
Consequently, team boss Michael Zele was delighted saying: „We have known Christof for some time and worked well with him in the past. Thus, we were convinced, he would do a great job, but two victories is more than you could have asked for.“
Thanks to von Grünigen’s double, the Austrian outfit climbed back to the top of the team standings, while the 25-year-old leapfrogged to third in the drivers‘ championship.
The next AutoGP races will take place at the Gamma Racing Days in Assen on August 6/7.
