Christof von Grünigen will run in two rounds of the BOSS GP Series
Von Grünigen, who already started for Zele Racing in the 2014 AutoGP World Series season, will return to the Austrian outfit to race in the BOSS GP Series.
The 25-year-old will drive a Lola B05/52 V8 with 550HP at the race weekends in Monza – at the Autodromo Nazionale on July 2/3- and in Brno – at the Masaryk Circuit on September 10/11.
“We are very happy to have Christof back on board and we are expecting him to do well”, team boss Michael Zele commented the reunion.
Back in 2014, Von Grünigen became the first Swiss driver in AutoGP history, when he made his debut in Monza, the series he raced in the past two seasons scoring a podium and several point finishes.
“I have good memories of driving for Zele in Monza. The car was excellent, allowing me to qualify in first row on my first AutoGP participation. I know the track really well and will attack from the first session”, he said.
Also team boss Zele believes that “Christof can do well in both events. He knows the car, he knows the tracks, and he has got the pace.”
The FIA agreed BOSS GP Series is the only single seater championship where semiprofessional and private drivers can take part with real big formula cars. They compete in two different classes – the ‘OPEN’ class for Formula 1, Champ Cars and IndyCars, and the ‘FORMULA’ class for GP2, World Series by Renault, Superleague Formula and AutoGP cars – for Silverware.
At the Monza round, a race each in both classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
