The Austrian outfit has a race-packed season despite the series suspension
Championship leading Zele Racing was caught by surprise Thursday to hear the news that the AutoGP season 2015 has been suspended.
“It is certainly a blow for us, as we were on a winning streak. We have recently fielded three cars to do our share in supporting the series, but unfortunately others have not entered the competition as planned,” team boss Michael Zele said.
In the current AutoGP standings, Zele driver Antonio Pizzonia is leading with two wins and two podiums in the first four races. The Austrian outfit is also on top spot in the team championship.
However, Zele Racing is extremely busy, despite their AutoGP programme being on halt.
“We are ahead of extensive summer tests for our Renault RS01 programme and will also continue our engagement in formula racing, entering two, maybe even three Boss GP cars at the Gamma Racing Days in Assen this August,” Zele added.
For the first time in team history, Zele Racing is also running in sports cars in 2015, being Austria’s only team in the brand-new Renault RS01 Sport Trophy.
