The French veteran will join the Austrians for Renault RS01 Trophy opener
This weekend the brand-new Renault RS01 Trophy will start into its maiden weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Perfectly in time, Zele Racing has named its fourth driver for the programme.
Frenchman Philippe Haezebrouck will be the second Prestige Driver with the Austrian outfit and will team up with Pro Driver Bas Schothorst. The other car will run 2013 AutoGP champion Vittorio Ghirelli and Philippe Bourgois.
Haezebrouck disposes of wide experience both in sports cars, but also in formula racing. He is a multiple 24hrs of Le Mans starter, but has also competed successfully in the Blancpain Endurance Series, the WEC and the Boss GP.
“We are very happy to have Philippe on board. He is highly experienced and knows Spa very well. He will be a great match for Bas”, team boss Michael Zele said.
Haezebrouck is looking forward to the challenge saying: “It’s a great opportunity. I have been racing a lot in the Ardennes, including two runner-up spots in 2011. The Renault RS01 is a great car and so is the Zele team. I am sure we will have a lot of fun.”
The RS01 Trophy starts on May 30 in Spa, Belgium and closes on October 18 in Jerez, Spain. Zele Racing is Austria’s only team in the Renault Trophy.
