Austrian team wants to enter brand-new Renault RS01 Sports Trophy
Faster than a GT3, the downforce of a single seater, over 500 HP, and quicker than 300kp/h – these are the ingredients of the Renault RS01, which the French manufacturers have built for the inaugural 2015 season of their own sports car series.
Not only will Zele Racing start into its fourth consecutive F1 feeder series AutoGP season, but the team is also aiming to enter the Renault Sports Trophy, which will held alongside the World Series by Renault in front of up to 100,000 fans per race.
Renault regards the new series as a stepping stone into professional GT- and endurance racing. The Austrian outfit is planning to run two Pro-Am cars. The championship features six weekends with 18 races including renowned tracks like Spa, Silverstone, Le Mans, Hungaroring, Nürburgring and Jerez.
“The RS01 is a race car with a unique design and F1 technology. The concept is highly convincing and the combination of endurance suitability and performance is impressive“, team boss Michael Zele said.
In a post-season test with a Nismo works team the Pro resp. Elite champion can secure himself a drive in the 2016 Japanese Super GT Championship. The Amateur resp. Prestige winner will get a cockpit in a Nissan LMP2 car at the 24h of Le Mans 2016.
“We will be down at the RS01 test days in Valencia this week to get a first impression. Various drivers have already been approaching us“, Zele revealed.
Two excellent Elite drivers are ready to share a drive at Zele Racing with to Prestige resp. Gentlemen drivers, who have yet to be assigned. Interested drivers can mail the team at office@zele-racing.com
