Rookie Christoph von Grünigen wasted the chance of a triumph on home soil for Zele Racing
Von Grünigen started into the second run of the AutoGP World Series weekened at the Red Bull Ring from the front row and took over the lead. The rookie quickly found his rhythm and pulled away from his rivals.
However, on the way to his maiden victory in the series, the Swiss Zele driver spun at the Castrol Edge. He stalled the engine and the race was over.
“This weekend at home was very unlucky for us, but that’s racing“, team boss Michael Zele commented.
In race one the 23-year-old only came seventh, following an exhaust failure and the loss of two cyclinders in qualifying.
The AutoGP season will continue on August 16/17, when the series will run in support of the DTM at the sold-out Nürburgring.
