Rookie Christof von Grünigen made a good impression in Friday’s practice sessions, while team leader Tamas Pal Kiss was struggling with misfiringThe 22-year-old Swiss showed a steady performance improving his lap times gradually. Christof, who came 6th in FP1 and 7th in FP2, is thus positive for Saturday’s qualifying.
“So far everything looks good. The car is running smoothly and I am getting acquainted to the track. I am sure, we can cut off the odd tenth to do well in qualifying”, Von Grünigen said.
For title contender Tamas Pal Kiss things went the wrong way Friday. Suffering from misfire due to a mystically wet ignition rod and a lack of power, he was forced to sit out for most of the sessions. Not even having totalled ten laps the entire day, while his rivals circled the track nearly thirty times, the Hungarian will have to catch up on Saturday.
“Today was really tough for us. The team tried everything to get the car running, but it simply wouldn’t work properly. Therefore, we will have to set a perfect lap tomorrow without any practice.”
Qualifying will start at 9:30 am Saturday, followed by race 1 at 3:15 pm.
