Swiss driver Christof von Grünigen will again drive Zele Racing’s second car this weekend in ImolaHaving proven his skills at the AutoGP World Series event in Monza, the 22-year-old has earned himself another drive with Austrian outfit Zele Racing.
Von Grünigen will get the second cockpit alongside title contender Tamas Pal Kiss and shall hold off the Hungarian’s rivals. The Domdidier-born driver has been dominating the ESET Formula Renault 2.0 season winning all six races this year. “Tamas also started in this series and I believe, joining AutoGP is the next logical step for Christof“, team boss Michael Zele said.
Zele has been observing the Swiss youngster for some time and invited him to private testing at the Red Bull Ring in May. “His performance was a positive surprise. His pace was good, which he affirmed in Monza. Unfortunately, he was unlucky in the races.”
In qualifying at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale „Crazy Chris“ sensationally placed his car in the front row, but was crashed into in both races through no fault of his own. Regardless, he saved some vital points for the team.
“It’s a pity I could not show in Monza, what I am capable of. However, this makes it even more exciting that I am getting the chance to do so in Imola now”, von Grünigen said.
