Technical problems slow Kiss down in Qualifying

Kiss63Tamas Pal Kiss will start into race 1 at Le Castellet from P4, team mate Yoshitaka Kuroda from P11

„Tamas was perfectly underway, when all of a sudden ahead of Q2 an engine problem occurred. It took us five minutes to finally get the car going, so he had already missed half of the session“, team boss Michael Zele explained.

Therefore, the Hungarian had to heat up his tires more quickly then planned and there was no time to reach peak performance of the rubbers. Nonetheless, he qualified fourth, only missing out on the top spot by 0.2 seconds.

New teammate Kuroda went out on prime tires to qualify for the second segement, but was outpaced in the dying seconds of the session.

„We should have given Yoshi the soft compound after all“, Zele admitted. However, the Austrian team’s cars have the pace to allow the Japanese comebacker catching up in the race.
