Tamas Pal Kiss was taken out of contention leading the race, while team mate Sergio Campana hit the tyre wall at Marrakech
“This was a very annoying start into the season”, an angry team boss Michael Zele summed up an eventful, but unpleasant Moroccan Grand Prix for the Austrian outfit.
Kiss made a great start jumping from P4 to P2, and push hard on polesetter Kevin Giovesi. Following a fierce wheel-to-wheel duel, the Hungarian took the lead and was about to pull away, when Giovesi launched a wild counterattack, cutting the chicane and loosing the car. The Italian smashed into the barrier and took Kiss with him.
After the subsequent Safety Car phase, remaining Zele driver Campana, who had given up his lead due to a stalled engine during the pitstop, tried to battle his way back to the front. However, when attacking hard, he lost the grip and hit the tyre wall, which ruined his right front suspension.
“That was certainly not, what we had expected. We were heading for a double podium finish, could even have won the race. We will start from far down the grid tomorrow, so we will have to work our way up to the front”, Zele added.
