The Austrian outfit has decided to compete a third straight season in the Auto GP World Series next year.
Following a successful 2013 season including the team’s maiden victory at Marrakech and several podium finishes, team boss Michael Zele is ready for more. “The positive performance this season has proven that AutoGP is the right series for us. The strong displays of our drivers have shown that we are competitive and we want to expand on that in 2014“, the 39-year-old said.
It will be the team’s 14th season in motorracing since being founded in 2001 in Carinthian village Bleiburg. “There is still a lot of homework to be done for the new season. Therefore, we will make some changes on the technical side, but also in staff matters, so that we can challenge AutoGP top dogs Supernova next year“, Zele added.
„We have scheduled an extensive winter testing programme which will allow us to be perfectly prepared for the season opener at Marrakech.“ Officially, Zele Racing’s will first rev their engines at the AutoGP track days on March 26/27 2014 in Valencia, where the team will also present its driving pair. “We want to find a strong duo again – one experienced driver who can fight for the title, and a talented youngster who will show his skill in our car.“
In 2014, AutoGP holds 16 races on eight weekends all over the globe. The season takes off in Marrakech in early April, while the closer is held in Monza at the end of October. The series visits both modern tracks like Moscow Raceway and classic circuits like Nürburgring. Moreover, the tyre dimensions are further approximated to F1 standards, which will make the cars about 1.5 seconds faster per lap.
